Harrie Swinkels, who became CEO of SSI SCHAEFER on January 1, 2018, underlines the importance of LogiMAT: “For us, as one of the world’s market leaders in intralogistics, the LogiMAT international trade fair is one of the first major events of 2018. One of the highlights will be the patented SSI Carrier pouch sorting system, which we will present for the first time at a trade fair. In addition, we are also looking forward to a new and enhanced version of our successful LET’S TALK expert panel, featuring conversations with global opinion leaders. Our activities at this exhibition reflect our corporate philosophy – which is founded on customer centricity and close communication. Because we believe that open, forward-thinking dialogue is fundamental to creating success stories with our customers.”
Flexible, cost-effective, and newly presented: the patented SSI Carrier
In hall 1, visitors to LogiMAT will be able to experience the rich functionality of the innovative SSI Carrier pouch sorting system live for the very first time. Using just a single drive system, the SSI Carrier moves, stores, buffers, distributes and sorts items. The versatile overhead conveyor is designed to simultaneously support multiple distribution channels and is especially cost-effective as a dynamic buffer for returns in e-commerce scenarios. Moreover, SSI SCHAEFER’s patented solution increases storage density while transferring delicate folded and hanging garments, and other sensitive products, without damage.

Digital transformation and data science, artificial intelligence and cloud solutions – SSI SCHAEFER’s IT experts are bringing these technologies to life with innovative demonstrations at their dedicated IT booth. Franz Bauer-Kieslinger, CEO of SSI Schäfer IT Solutions GmbH, states: “We are taking our WAMAS® via Voice Command showcase to Stuttgart – where our logistics software WAMAS® will communicate with a voice assistant.” Furthermore, the IT specialists will be presenting WAMAS®, WAMAS® GO! and SAP EWM – modular software solutions that can be seamlessly integrated. They will also be explaining how they address customers’ unique needs by means of in-depth solution expertise and actionable advice – for instance by analyzing logistics processes and productivity with the help of KPIs and dashboards.
An immersive intralogistics experience
SSI SCHAEFER’s booth in hall 1 will do more than catch the eye – it will make complex warehousing solutions easy to understand with interactive demonstrations. Using a fascinating Virtual Reality application, SSI SCHAEFER will offer a 3D tour of an automated high-bay warehouse at REYHER. Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience the immense speed and throughput provided by the energy-efficient Exyz storage and retrieval machine within a Virtual Reality demonstrations.
SSI SCHAEFER will also be using the Augmented Reality application, HoloLens, to demonstrate the innovation behind made-to-measure engineered packaging, the art of modifying standard containers to create solutions with unique shapes and dimensions. Using the holographic computer, visitors will be able to truly immerse themselves into a recent success story whereby the intralogistics specialists developed intelligent packaging hand-in-hand with world-renowned model train manufacturer, Marklin. Visitors will be able to watch interviews, explanatory videos, animations and visual depictions of the project history using HoloLens.
LET’S TALK – the art of conversation never goes out of style
SSI SCHAEFER is again holding its successful LET’S TALK expert panel discussions at its main booth in hall 1, with the participation of leading industry representatives and logistics opinion leaders. Throughout the three-day trade fair, seven discussions will be moderated by business journalist, Gesa Eberl. They will cover technology trends, visions of the future and recent success stories within logistics and intralogistics. In addition to flexible, future-proof automated solutions, the conversations will examine paths to digital transformation. New technologies such as artificial intelligence, industry-specific challenges such as e-grocery and omnichannel logistics, plus container solutions in the age of Industry 4.0 are also on the agenda. SSI SCHAEFER will again be staging the talks in association with leading industry magazine Logistik Heute. The discussions will be streamed live, and edited highlight videos will be available to watch on social media and www.ssi-SCHAEFER.com.
