We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Resident Technician from the automation field to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual.  The position will be located in Sydney, at one of our major client sites. You will be supporting a highly automated distribution centre with cutting edge technology. Being an active team member who provides technical support to customers Automated system. Completion of and support in all facets of preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance in a 24hr rotating shift-based atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical product support during breakdowns, shutdowns and all preventative & corrective maintenance activities.

  • Complete CMMS allocated work by the scheduled dates.

  • Ensure maintenance & repairs are carried out to meet OEM standards and specifications.

  • Provide support to CSS Site Manager & CSS Team Leader to establish and train new technicians on Schaefer Automated products.

  • Liaise with Schaefer international helpdesk to provide remote support to resolve technical issues.

  • Liaise with Schaefer R&D department to resolve design issues and prepare product improvement recommendations.

  • Update CMMS with repair comments and data as required.

  • Update CMMS with spare parts consumed from inventory and make recommendations to adjust inventory levels.

  • Proactively work with the customers operations team to maintain a harmonious and productive work environment.

  • Participate in regular team meetings with CSS Management & RM team to identify any inefficiencies, discuss WHSE topics and monitor continuous improvement processes.

  • Actively promote a safe work culture at all times.

  • Work within a rotating 24hr based shift roster and provide a level of flexibility to assist CSS team to cover labour shortfalls as required.

  • Perform basic mechanical tasks as required in line with OEM maintenance requirements.

  • Proactive in Continuous Improvement to Equipment and process

  • Adherence to WHS compliance for site and legislation

  • Assist mechanical resident technicians with mechanical tasks as required.

  • Understand and co-operate with SSI SCHAEFER policies, procedures and instructions.

  • Assist SSI SCHAEFER to continuously improve the Work Health & Safety system by providing feedback including timely reporting of hazards, incidents and injuries via business reporting processes.

  • As required consult with interested parties, including other workers, client representatives relevant to your position for the implementation and continuous improvement of safety processes.

  • Ensure that all client site safety processes are understood and site specific SSI SCHAEFER processes have been implemented, including risk assessments, SWMS and SOP's to manage the works at client sites

  • As for all SSI SCHAEFER personnel, you have the authority to stop work to correct a safety opportunity by consulting with your supervisor/manager

  • Ensure that you understand the possible environmental impacts your position could have and that mitigation processes have been considered and implemented

Education/Qualifications

  • Electrical Licence

  • Pneumatics & Hydraulics Post Trade Certificate – an advantage.

  • PLC & VSD fault finding / programming

  • Proven fault finding skill

Key Skills

  • Experience with Computerised Maintenance software.

  • Advanced knowledge of automated warehouse machinery.

  • Ability to work under pressure and follow procedures.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals.

  • Have strong organisation skills be happy working on your own as well as part of a team environment.

  • Experienced in fault finding/diagnosis on mechatronics.

  • Advanced customer focus skills.

  • Understanding of AS3000 Wiring standards

Experience

  • 2 years in the automation industry
