Residence Maintenance Multi Skilled Engineer

The technology includes robotics and complex software solutions. They have a strong order book following major wins this year and they are looking to expand the team.

With this continued growth they are looking for a Multi Skilled Engineer to work within a customer site based at Marks and Spencer in Castle Donnington.  You will be required to deliver a first-class service to support this household name in delivering its products.  This is an ideal opportunity to develop a long term career in the intra-logistics sector which is a significant growth area in the UK with many Company's making significant investment in automated warehouses.

About the role:

You will be responsible for the day to day maintenance of the fast flowing material handling equipment as well as delivering key service elements including planned preventative maintenance, fault rectification and eradication.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

·         Effectively work with the RM team

·         Reactive and preventative maintenance including troubleshooting with Roller and Belt Conveyors, High Bay Cranes (Pallet and Tote), Pick to Light Systems, Sortation, Storage carousels, Carton Assembly, Strapping, Wrapping, Spiral and Telescopic Conveyors

·         Record activities using the CMMS system

·         Ensuring the customer receives the agreed level of support

·         Proactively promote and comply with all procedures and health and safety regulations

Please Note:  This role involves working at height and may involve rescue at height therefore the successful candidate must be able to work at height and observe Health and Safety standards/regulations at all times.

About You:

Effective communication is essential for this role in order to balance the demands of supporting your team as well as the needs of the Customer.   You will have the ability to deal with problems effectively therefore thinking on your feet quickly to deal with issues/faults proactively minimising down time and actively working to key performance indicators.  Due to the nature of the environment it is essential to have a good working knowledge of Health & Safety coupled with accredited qualifications in electrical and mechanical discipline, with thorough understanding of Mechanical engineering.  You will be able to demonstrate the following skills in addition to the relevant job description requirements:

·         Confident with IT packages, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook

·         Great attention to detail and team working skills

·         Ability to prioritise own workload and manage own time

In addition to the above you will observe quality and control processes in line with company and customer requirements.  From time to time, you may be required to travel to other sites for training purposes.

Qualification/Experience Requirements:

To apply for this position, the minimum requirements are as follows:

·         Minimum of ONC/HNC/BTEC/HND or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or PLC Engineering or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

·         Thorough knowledge and experience of SCADA Systems and WCS (Warehouse Control Systems)

·         A recognised apprenticeship in an appropriate engineering discipline.

·         Recognised cross training from Mechanical to Electrical Engineering of vice versa

·         PLC knowledge and experience is advantageous

·         Experience of automated materials handling equipment

·         Ability to work at height is a must

·         IPAF registered and PASMA trained (desired)


This is a shift based role at a 24/7 distribution centre working day shifts (6am to 6pm) and night shifts (6pm to 6am) including weekends and bank holidays.  Shifts are scheduled on a rotation basis with approximately 2 weekends off in a 4 week period and 4/5 days off between each sift pattern.

£32,000 to £35,000 dependent on experience plus 25% shift supplement for hours between 23.00 to 07.00.
