PostNord and stadium in joint venture

PostNord and Stadium automize the e-commerce store in Norrköping. The new automation solution will lift e-commerce logistics to the next level for all companies included in the Stadium family; Stadium, Stadium Outlet and Sneakers Point. The solution will create better opportunities to maintain and exceed consumer expectations while reducing unit cost per unit.

Like the majority of Sweden's retail companies, Stadium has seen a strong development in e-commerce. Customers expect a high level of service and fast delivery, which places new and increased demands on the logistics solution as volumes grow.

"With the development of the digital trade we have had for several years, and especially in the past year, it has been absolutely necessary for us to find a more efficient logistics solution, where we go from manual handling to automation," says Daniel Johansson, Logistics Manager, Stadium.

The automation solution is also designed to be a flexible platform that can handle several different customer assignments in parallel, ie. Other customers should be able to handle the same solution together with Stadium. The automation solution should be cost-effective regardless of the relative size of the respective company, both in terms of stored quantity of goods as well as the number of transactions.

"The solution removes the threshold for smaller e-merchants to enter automated management. They can benefit from an automation solution without investing in their own solution "says Magnus Lindskog, Production Manager, PostNord TPL.

The automation solution will be delivered by SSI Schäfer and will be a tailor-made overall solution with the Cuby shuttle system, packing stations, conveyors, shelves and a WMS system for controlling the entire automation.

"The solution consists of 6 shuttle runs, each 100 meters long and 10 meters high, with space for 74,000 storage boxes," says Anders Bohlin, Sales Manager, SSI Schäfer Sweden.
