The Technical Support Technician provides remote 1st level technical support for automated material handling software systems and equipment in multiple warehouses and distribution centres across Northern Europe using an array of technical tools to perform complex troubleshooting and problem solving.

• Providing contact and 1st line support for the SSI UK Technical Support Desk.
• Proactive ownership of customer incidents, utilising the help-desk ticketing system to track, monitor, and resolve issues.
• Identify issues that are mechanical or logical in nature and escalate to the appropriate team for resolution.
• Assisting 2nd line teams investigate issues.
• Providing proactive support to our customers using available SSI systems and information.
  o Analyse system reports to track and identify opportunities for continued improvement.
  o Writes and updates knowledgebase articles.
  o Effectively communicates with customers in high-impact scenarios.
• Customer visits may also be required if the issue is not able to be resolved remotely.
• Participates in customer and internal meetings.
• Works as part of international team to ensure maximum system uptime and performance.

• BSc or HND/HNC in Computer Science, IT engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar work.
• Java development/support (Major advantage but not essential).
• SQL knowledge (Essential)
• Experience of Linux and associated tools & utilities (Essential).
• Basic understanding of XML.
• Have knowledge of the following PL/SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Bash.
• Computer literate, with experience of standard office products.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Worked in a commercial support environment (Warehousing knowledge an advantage).
• Highly proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly Credible / High impact – Able to demonstrate their ability to work on their own initiative and without supervision in some cases.
 

The shift/working pattern is a 28-day rotation consisting of 12-hour Day shifts from 06:00–18:00, 12-hour Night Shifts from 18:00-06:00. However, these times may vary dependent upon operational requirements.

The employee will be required to work out of hours, weekends and bank holidays to provide the support required to our customers as part of their shift rota.
