Oriola Selects SSI SCHAEFER as their Intralogistics Solution Provider for its New Distribution Center
Oriola, a leading Nordic pharmaceutical wholesaler, is investing in a 30,000-square-meter distribution center, with installation to begin in early 2027. The facility will increase overall capacity by approximately 30 percent and significantly expand cold-chain handling capabilities, supporting scalable operations as demand evolves.
SSI SCHAEFER will deliver a comprehensive automation solution designed to ensure high delivery reliability, streamlined material flows, and safe pharmaceutical distribution. The flexible system architecture enables Oriola to continuously adapt to changing customer needs while supporting its sustainability and energy efficiency targets.
The project builds on the long-standing partnership between Oriola and SSI SCHAEFER, dating back to the 1980s. Over the years, the companies have jointly developed Oriola’s logistics and automation capabilities in Finland. The new distribution center marks the next phase of this collaboration, combining advanced technology with decades of shared expertise to create a flexible and future-ready operation.
“This project reflects our close partnership with Oriola. Together, we are delivering a state-of-the-art solution that supports reliable pharmaceutical supply in Finland, and sets a new benchmark for automation,” says Lauri Impiö, Head of Sales Finland, SSI SCHAEFER.
The Järvenpää facility is set to become one of the most advanced automated distribution centers in Finland. The turnkey solution combines high-performance storage and picking technologies, conveying systems, palletising robots, handling systems, storage totes and intelligent logistics software to enable seamless, optimised, and highly adaptable material flows.
“This investment is an important step in Oriola’s long-term development. Together with SSI SCHAEFER, we are building a future-oriented logistics center that will allow us to serve our customers even better and strengthen our role as part of Finland’s critical healthcare infrastructure,” says Katarina Gabrielson, CEO of Oriola.
