We are currently seeking an experienced Resident Maintenance Team Leader from the automation field to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual. The position will be located in western Sydney, at one of our major client sites. You will be an active team member who provides management, leadership and technical support to customers and service technicians. This position reports to, and provides support for, the Residential Site Manager.
Your role:
Provide technical product support to technicians during breakdowns, shutdowns and all Preventative Maintenance activities.
Provide management and coaching to technicians to help develop their technical and communication skills.
Ensure resources are managed to effectively minimise labour costs.
Conduct regular toolbox meetings to share safety, process and technical best practice.
Conduct regular Gemba walks to review condition of the plant. Document any required repairs or improvements.
Ensure effective handover of required information between shifts.
Proactively minimise repeat workorders or faults.
Drive an RCA culture within the team to identify root cause and control measures.
Take the lead during breakdowns and coordinate the resolution requirements in conjunction with the Site Manager and the customer. Ensure breakdown escalation protocols are followed.
Ensure WAMAS Maintenance Center (SSI CMMS) allocated work is completed by the scheduled dates.
Ensure maintenance & repairs are carried out to meet OEM standards and specifications.
Provide support to Site Manager and additional Team Leader to train new technicians on assets.
Liaise with SSI SCHAEFER international helpdesk to provide remote support to resolve technical issues.
Liaise with SSI R&D department to resolve design issues and prepare product improvement recommendations.
Update ApiPro with repair comments and data as required.
Manage spare parts in ApiPro, ensure spare parts consumed from inventory are recorded and make recommendations to adjust inventory levels and parts held.
Assist Site Manager, additional Team Leader and Spares Parts Controller with spare parts ordering process.
Prepare and communicate weekly asset care schedule and allocate maintenance tasks to resident technicians.
Review the quality of Maintenance tasks and ApiPro entries by technicians and provide appropriate feedback as required.
Review Preventative Maintenance program and suggest improvements based on historical data.
Proactively work with the customers operations team to maintain a harmonious and productive work environment.
Participate in regular meetings with Site Manager and additional Team Leader to identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement processes.
Prepare reports for Site Manager as directed. e.g. Breakdown report, spare parts inventory check, areas identified for improvement.
Actively participate as a team member of the SSI SCHAEFER safety improvement team and always promote a safe work culture.
Improve and document processes, e.g. machine set-up, maintenance tasks, SWMS.
Contribute and execute Continuous Improvement activities.
Provide role cover for when technicians are on break, sick or on other leave.
Provide role cover for Site Manager duties while they are not available or not on site.
Other tasks as requested by your manager.

Understand and co-operate with SSI SCHAEFER policies, procedures and instructions.
Assist SSI SCHAEFER to continuously improve the Work Health & Safety system by providing feedback including timely reporting of hazards, incidents and injuries via business reporting processes.
As required consult with interested parties, including other workers, client representatives relevant to your position for the implementation and continuous improvement of safety processes.
Ensure that all client site safety processes are understood and site-specific SSI SCHAEFER processes have been implemented, including risk assessments, SWMS and SOP's to manage the works at client sites.
As for all SSI SCHAEFER personnel, you have the authority to stop work to correct a safety opportunity by consulting with your supervisor/manager.
Ensure that you understand the possible environmental impacts your position could have and that mitigation processes have been considered and implemented.
Your profile:
5 years post trade in industrial automation.
Knowledge of maintenance systems and strategies.
Familiar with Continuous Improvement methods.
Skills:
Experience with Computerised Maintenance software.
Advanced knowledge of automated warehouse machinery.
Ability to work under pressure and follow procedures.
Have strong organisation skills and be happy working on your own as well as part of a team environment.
Experienced in fault finding/diagnosis on mechatronics.
Advanced customer focus skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Educational Qualifications:
Electrical Trade Certificate (preferred)
Pneumatics & Hydraulics Post Trade Certificate an advantage.
Cert IV in Leadership and Management
