SAP customer day at SSI SCHAEFER

SSI SCHAEFER's First SAP Customer Day

Pioneering SAP Solutions for the Intralogistics Challenges of Tomorrow!

On its first SAP Customer Day, the global leader in intralogistics, SSI SCHAEFER, presented and discussed the future challenges for intralogistics at its Giebelstadt technology center. The focus was on increasingly complex business processes, digitalization, and supply chain management in real time as well as the topics of sustainability, big data, and mobility. Varied presentations from experts and customers as well as a hands-on tour of the technology center gave the 55 invited guests an understanding of different solutions and provided ample opportunity for discussions on individual logistics projects and technological innovations.

Andreas Hampe, Vice President SAP Solutions at SSI SCHAEFER welcomed guests to the first SAP Customer Day on June 1 in Giebelstadt, opening with the words: "More and more customers are requesting software solutions to continuously track goods movements. SSI SCHAEFER is responding to this by continuing to develop its expertise in software and information technology." SAP expertise in intralogistics and the resulting opportunities were a focal point of the customer day and were highlighted by external SAP and logistics experts.

Jörg Michaelis, Chief Product Owner Extended Warehouse Management at SAP SE explained where SAP is headed. Not only did he underline the growing challenges of the supply chain, he also underpinned SAP's endeavors to achieve an integrated digital supply chain. Monitoring real-time data is currently the key preoccupation. As a certified SAP Silver Partner, SSI SCHAEFER handles all existing and future applications and offers its customers interface-free implementation and support, including expert advice, project management, migration and development, 24/7 service and maintenance packages, SAP licenses, databases, and hardware.

Best practice par excellence – at the event Claudia Vogel-Daniel, Project Coordinator at Brose, presented Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH & Co. KG's innovative material flow concept at its Ostrava site in the Czech Republic. This solution was developed and implemented in partnership with SSI SCHAEFER as a general contractor. The fully automated tugger-train loading and production supply, which is completely integrated and controlled from SAP EWM, is currently the only high-tech solution of its kind in the world. The automation of many processes coupled with the standardization of various workflows enables greater transparency and ensures the process security and long-term efficiency of the workflows associated with this. "Working in collaboration with SSI SCHAEFER, we have created state-of-the-art logistics that fully meet our expectations – the modular design of the concept, from automation and material flow to integrative SAP solution, enables us to implement needs-based solutions at our global sites," emphasizes Claudia Vogel-Daniel.

Guests were able to witness the technical possibilities and how SAP EWM controls and optimizes different products and processes on a tour of the technology center. The visitors gained a first-hand insight into the SAP-assisted warehouse management – from automated guided vehicles and automated warehouses with efficient storage-retrieval machines through to the Lighthouse visualization system. They were also impressed by the ergonomics and user-friendliness of the SAP-controlled picking stations.

"The SAP Customer Day was the perfect opportunity for SSI SCHAEFER to demonstrate once again that it has successfully become an IT powerhouse," summarizes organizer Andreas Hampe. "The event was a resounding success and provided the perfect platform for us to talk to existing and new customers as well as other interested parties on a one-to-one basis. The next SAP event will soon be upon us: At the SAP Information Day on November 7, 2017 at the Congress Center Rosengarten in Mannheim, we will be showcasing our tailored SAP system solution together with our customer Capri-Sun."
